Creating Checklist Templates
Creating Templates feature allows users to design standardized task, checklist, issue, and action templates that can be reused across the organization.

Overview
Checklists templates are the foundation of inspections, audits, assessments, and compliance activities in SimplChek. Before a task can be started, a checklist must first be created and added to your Library.
SimplChek provides three ways to create a checklist:
- Build from scratch – Create a completely new checklist.
- Build from existing template – Customize a ready-made template.
- Upload your forms – Upload an existing .docx or .pdf form for conversion into a digital checklist.

Step 1: Open the Library
- From the Dashboard, tap More icon.

2. Tap Checklist Builder.

The How do you want to build your checklist? screen will appear.

Option 1: Build from Scratch
Use this option when you want to create a completely new checklist.

Step 1
Tap Build from scratch.
Step 2
Enter the checklist details:
- Checklist Name
- Description
- Category (if applicable)
Create your Sections.
Examples:
- Safety Checks
- Equipment Inspection
- Housekeeping
- Compliance Review
Add Questions to each section.
Supported question types may include:
- Yes / No
- Rating
- Text Input
- Multiple Choice
- Photo Upload
- Signature
Tap Save Checklist.
The checklist will be added to your Library and will be available for starting tasks.
Option 2: Build from Existing Template
Use this option when you want to customize a ready-made template from the SimplChek template library.

Step 1
Tap Build from existing template.
Step 2
Browse the available templates. SimplChek provides templates for different industries and operational areas.
Step 3
Select the template that best matches your inspection or audit.
Step 4
Customize the template by:
- Editing section names
- Adding or removing questions
- Updating response options
- Adjusting scoring or evidence requirements
Tap Save to Library.
The customized checklist will be stored in your Library for future use.
Option 3: Upload Your Forms
Use this option if you already have an inspection or audit form in Word or PDF format.

Step 1
Tap Upload your forms.
Step 2
Select the file from your device. Supported formats:
- .docx
Upload the file.
Step 4SimplChek will process the uploaded form and convert it into a digital checklist.
Note: This process may take up to 2 business days before the checklist appears in your Library. After Creating the Checklist
Once the checklist has been saved to your Library, you can immediately start a task.

Tips
- Use clear and descriptive checklist names.
- Group related questions into logical sections.
- Keep questions short and easy to understand.
- Use Yes/No questions for faster inspections.
- Include photo upload fields where evidence may be required.
- Test the checklist with a sample task before rolling it out to all users.
Best Practices
- Standardize checklist names across departments.
- Create separate sections for different inspection areas.
- Avoid overly long checklists when possible.
- Review and update templates regularly to reflect operational changes.
- Use existing templates whenever possible to maintain consistency across sites.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Creating duplicate checklists with similar names
- Adding too many questions in a single section
- Forgetting to save the checklist to the Library
- Uploading unsupported file formats
- Using vague question wording that can be interpreted differently by inspectors
To create a checklist in SimplChek, open Library → Create Checklist and choose one of the available methods: Build from scratch, Build from existing template, or Upload your forms. After saving the checklist to your Library, it becomes available for creating and starting inspection or audit tasks across your organization.
